Troubling News

by Chris W. The thought of formaldehyde being in the water West Virginians is troubling to me, as it isn’t safe for us to shower in it, because of the risk of cancer. It can’t be safe if they are advising pregnant women not to drink it, which causes problems because pregnant women need to be able to drink water without worrying about what it may do to their babies. Who knows how long the water will not be safe for? It could be a short time or a long time. I don’t know anyone that has been personal effect, but that does not make me care any less about the people effect by the tainted water. I feel like as soon as the spill happened it should have been reported so less people would have been effect by the spill. 300,000 people is way too many people to have this effect it could have been far less had the spill been reported sooner. In the future the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection should try to contain spills better so less people are affected by spills.
